How the template is structured

Inspection setup and batch identification
Inspector records the batch ID, product code, production date, and their own inspector ID. The checklist is tagged to this batch so all results are traceable. For multi-site operations, site and line are also captured.
Critical checks — pass/fail with binary outcome
Critical quality checks are presented one at a time. Each check has a clear pass/fail criterion — no judgment calls. A failed critical check immediately routes to the defect logging and hold path, preventing the batch from advancing.
Major and minor checks
After all critical checks pass, major and minor checks are presented. Failed major checks route to a remediation branch; failed minor checks are logged with a corrective action note but do not hold the batch. Each failure type triggers the appropriate downstream action.
Defect classification and severity
For any failed check, the inspector classifies the defect: critical (do not ship), major (remediate before release), or minor (log and monitor). Classification determines escalation path — critical defects notify the QA manager immediately via webhook.
Corrective action and re-inspection
Defects with corrective actions are logged with a target remediation date and owner. After remediation, the checklist routes to a re-inspection module that re-runs only the failed checks — not the full checklist.
Final sign-off and release decision
When all checks pass or minor defects are logged and accepted, the inspector provides a final sign-off with their ID. The release decision (pass, pass with notes, hold, reject) is recorded and a completion timestamp is logged for the batch record.
